DOJ prosecutors conduct specialized training for the Philippine Coast Guard

On 24-28 November 2025, the Department of Justice (DOJ), through the National Prosecution Service Special Projects Division (NPS-SPD), continued its strong collaboration through the conduct of the third run of the specialized capacity building training for the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), entitled: “Strengthening Maritime Law Enforcement: DOJ Prosecutors’ Capacity Building Training for the Philippine Coast Guard.” Completing the two batches for 2025, 24 PCG personnel composed of Station Commanders from the PCG District Command offices nationwide, with four (4) counterpart prosecutors from Region IV-A, attended the training. The training program, which is aimed at strengthening the capacity of Coast Guard personnel in handling cases related to maritime law enforcement, focused on enhancing the knowledge and skills of Coast Guard employees in evidence gathering, case preparation, and coordination with their respective local prosecution offices.

In his Opening Remarks, Prosecutor General Richard Anthony A. Fadullon emphasized the critical role of Station Commanders as front-line decision-makers whose command presence determines not just operational success, but the integrity of the cases that ultimately reach the courts. “Effective maritime law enforcement requires both operational readiness and legal readiness. If either is weak, justice falters,” said Prosecutor General Fadullon. “The DOJ remains fully committed to supporting the Philippine Coast Guard as a vital law enforcement partner. Together, we uphold a justice system that is credible and worthy of the people we serve.”

The Closing Ceremonies was graced by RADM Allen J. Dalangin, PCG Commander, Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command and OIC-Regional Prosecutor Josef Albert T. Comilang, Region IV-A.
